Free Wi-Fi at South Africa’s nine major airports

Who doesn’t enjoy a bit of free Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi makes the world go round, and passengers can now benefit from 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi at South Africa’s nine airports, thanks to the Airports Company South Africa.

Passengers can access Wi-Fi at the airports through the Always On Wi-Fi hot spot via tablets, laptops and phones that are Wi-Fi enabled or those with a Wi-Fi network card.

The airports offering this service are: OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg; Cape Town International Airport; King Shaka International Airport in Durban; Bram Fischer International Airport in Free wifi-airportBloemfontein; Port Elizabeth International Airport; Upington International Airport; East London Airport; George Airport; and Kimberley Airport.

In addition, the Airports Company South Africa recently launched a free airport app. Batyashe-Fillis explains: ‘As a company that facilitates close to 35-million passengers a year, we are constantly seeking ways of enhancing service offerings. In addition to facilitating airline and parking reservations, the app puts the airport in the pocket of passengers by providing them with convenient tools to find shops and restaurants; airline, travel and traffic information; weather reports; and customer care details.’

The app also synchronises with the Gautrain timetable so passengers are able to easily plan their route. The Airports Company app is available for download on Android, Apple IOS and Blackberry (with the exception of Q and Z devices).
